Great (Grand?) Nephew Dean made an early appearance on 7/19! He is so tiny (2lbs 2 oz at birth) that I just HAD to make him a small blanket he could use now. Its colors are white and lightest blue, Caron SS yarn. I sent it to him as a long-distance hug...

FINISHED!!

I've made 15 dishloths for the Circle of Friends CAL and they're ready to be mailed to the group leader, Julie. Now I'll be getting some photos together and finish the questionaire...and I'm finished AHEAD of time! I never thought I could do that...

Dishcloth CAL

A CAL is a "crochet-a-long" and there are many going at the same time on Crochetville, where I'm a member. The theme for this one is dishcloths, and the name of the CAL is Circle of Friends. There are many of us who are very active on the site and Julie thought exchanging crocheted dishcloths, pictures and some tidbits about ourselves would be fun. We have to make 15 cloths. I just finished number 6...here's a pic of what we've been making, courtesy of KnicKnac.

Charity lapghans...

...washed and ready to go! The bright one is for Hartwyck Hospital and the other was originally a square I embellished and made into more of a rectangle.

I'm so in love with the result of this pattern! It was untested, so there were rows where I had to frog stitches and make my own corrections, but it worked out. I think it's cute, anyway. Next is the border with the Greek Key design!

Round Ripple is finished...

...for Project Linus! It was such fun making this using two strands of yarn and blending the colors. I am hooked! I want to make more ripples or blended grannies. The technique makes such unique patterns that it's a joy watching each creation unfold. This one came to 50 inches in diameter (I got carried away) and 21 rows.

A New CAL on Crochetville...

...grabbed my attention this past week. It's Van Goh's Closet...we basically picked whatever colors/shades we wanted and tried to blend them into a unique effect. This is a pic of my first attempt, using baby yellow, aqua and a variegated, (2 strands at a time with an N hook). I'm nearly finished with the baby round ripple. It's been a nice, easy break from following the bear chart - but I'm now anxious to pick that up again.

A Baby Ghan for Our Great-Nephew...

...is my latest project - and it's a doozy! I'm working from a graph and making a blue ghan with a big picture of a baseball-bat carrying bear on it. The border will be deep, and edged with a cross-stitch design of the Greek Key pattern as an homage to the mom-to-be's nationality.

I am so thankful for Linda (Diznemom): for both her beautiful pattern as well as her patience in answering what I can see now was a super-basic question! I am also thankful for Lesley Brown of Lemontreestitchery in the UK. Once I described what I was looking for and looked at some variations of the Greek Key she whipped up an original chart/pattern for me, which I downloaded and printed immediately. She was more than reasonable in her fee, too, IMHO.

Patriotic Baby Ghan...

...for a baby girl due to be born in July, a month after her Dad is to be deployed to Iraq by the Army. These military families make such sacrifices I wanted to do a little something for them to let them know how much they are in our thoughts and are very much appreciated.
