Kathy's Comfortghan and Gifts from my Secret Pal

The beautiful Fall colored doily and red and black thread bookmark are from my Secret Pal - she knows me VERY well!
The comfortghan/pillowghan I gave to Kathy yesterday. The 12 inch squares were made by many of her friends on Crochetville. The pillow version of the ghan is also pictured here, from both sides. I left the name tags on of all who made and sent them to me and assembled them before giving the ghan to Kathy, who lives nearby. We hope this will help her as she deals with the many recent medical problems her son Tim, who has been comatose for 18 months, has had. It's a tangible hug from her friends here on the 'ville.

Better Late than Never :>)

Baby Dean is home!!! He came home with mom and dad on Sept.1st, home to his room filled with stuffed animals, including a too-cute Aussie kangaroo (with Joey) and a koala from a Crochetville friend Down Under. He was wearing a tiny BICO (sweater) crocheted by a sweet friend, a Navy wife, also from Crochetville.

Happy International Crochet Day!

One person at a time, one handmade gift at a time - this is how we will spread the word about crochet!
It's a great way to relax, become more artistic, and bless others...

September 12th - International Crochet Day!

Jimbo has a wonderful idea here...and with the help of others on the internet I hope that this idea will take off!
I'm planning on starting to observe the day way before the 12th, and close to home.
I have friend I want to encourage to finish a baby blanket I helped her start some time ago, and there is at least one neighbor who knew how to crochet when she was a child and expressed an interest in starting again. I might be able to encourage her by asking her to make "baby" colored blocks for ghans I can donate to either Project Linus or the NICU at NYU/Cornel Medical Center where our sweet Baby Dean received such wonderful care.

I have a mission to convert the world to the wonderful creative art of crochet...one person at a time!
