My 8" Square

DOUBLE TIMIN’ GRANNY
8” square created by J. Grivas

I used an H hook, WW yarn, and crocheted from the same side for each round. To make the first corner for each new row I began by chaining 3, made 2 dc, and went to the side, leaving the other half of the corner to be finished at the END of the round.
So…begin:
Chain 4, join with sl st and make 2 rows of a granny square.
ROW 3: make a granny round, using ch 2 at the corners, and no chain between 3 dc clusters on sides.
ROW 4: sl st to corner, make (sc, ch 5, sc) in corner, chain 3 and sc into sp between each group of 3 dcs. Continue around. Sl st into base of ch 5.
ROW 5: sl st into ch 5 sp. Ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc (corner made); *3 dc in each ch 3 sp, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in corner. Repeat from * to end. Sl st into 3rd ch of ch 3. Sl st to ch 2 sp.
ROW 6: ch 5, sc in same corner space. Ch 3, sc between each group of 3 dcs. Repeat around.
ROW 7: Repeat Row 5
ROW 8: Ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in corner. Dc in each dc, work corners (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) around. Sl st into ch 3 of starting ch. Sl st to ch 2 space.
ROW 9: Ch 1, 4 sc in corner. Sc in each st around, making 5 scs in dc.
